About Zimmerman

The village here was first called Lake Fremont and was incorporated in 1910. In 1967 it took the name Zimmerman, after Moses Zimmerman, a farmer who helped bring the Great Northern Railway through. The spring-fed lake still sits on the city's eastern edge. Zimmerman is a gateway to the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, one of the few oak savannas left in the country. Each Memorial Day weekend the town holds Wild West Days.
