About Cadott
Cadott takes its name from Jean Baptiste Cadotte, the son of a French Canadian fur trader, who kept a trading post on the Yellow River long before the village grew. Robert Marriner, the first settler, came in 1865 and built a dam on the river to run a sawmill, and the railroad arrived in 1880. The village likes to say it sits halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, and signs on Highway 27 mark the spot. Today families gather in Riverview Park for Nabor Days each July, with a parade down Main Street, a tractor pull and fireworks, and the Country Fest and Rock Fest music festivals draw fans from across the country to the grounds outside town.
