About Carver
Carver sits where Carver Creek meets the Minnesota River, and in the 1850s its steamboat landing made it a busy river town. The town was platted in 1857 and named for the explorer Jonathan Carver. When railroads passed it by, the old brick and frame buildings were left standing, and in 1980 the old town became one of the first historic districts in Minnesota. Today it has about 5,800 neighbors and holds its Steamboat Days festival every early September.
