About Cloquet
Cloquet grew up around three sawmills on the St. Louis River, in a place once called Knife Falls for a waterfall over sharp slate. The village was set up in 1884 and became a city in 1904. In 1910 neighbors started the Cloquet Cooperative Society, and by the 1950s it had thousands of members. Today people know the town as a hockey town with two of Minnesota's last ski jumps, and for the only gas station Frank Lloyd Wright designed.
