About Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove lies on the north bank of the Mississippi River, with more riverfront than any other Minnesota city. Settlers farmed here as early as the 1840s and 1850s, and merchant John P. Furber platted the village in 1871. The area was once known for the state's first creameries and for wheat. 3M opened a plant in 1947 and the farms slowly became neighborhoods. Each June the Strawberry Fest at Kingston Park brings the town together with a parade, bands and booths.
