About Cudahy
Cudahy began as a farm settlement called Buckhorn, a few miles south of Milwaukee. In 1891 the meatpacker Patrick Cudahy and his brother John bought 700 acres of farmland here for a new packing plant, and talked the Chicago and North Western Railway into building a depot, which opened in 1892. Workers and other factories followed, and the town became a village in 1895 and a city in 1906. Today families walk the bluffs, beach and pond of Sheridan Park on Lake Michigan, bike the Oak Leaf Trail, and visit the old 1890s depot, now the town's local history museum.
