About East Grand Forks
East Grand Forks sits on the east bank of the Red River of the North, right across from Grand Forks, where the Red Lake River joins the Red. It was incorporated in 1887 and named for its place east of its bigger neighbor. Hamm's Brewery built a cold-storage beer depot here, and the 1907 building is still standing. After the great flood of 1997 the city moved homes out of the floodplain and made a long riverside park, the Greenway. Neighbors now come out for Catfish Days, Heritage Days at the Heritage Village and the Saturday farmers market in Town Square.
