About Forest Lake
Forest Lake began as a train stop. The first train reached it in 1868, and the lake was named for the thick timber along its shores. The township formed in 1874 and the town became a city in the 1890s. Today it is a Washington County city of about 20,600 people, with a chamber that hosts Easter by the Lake, a summer Lake Fest Street Dance and a Hometown Holiday in December.
