About Greenville

Greenville began in 1848 as Greenville Station, a farm settlement west of Appleton; it was called Becher for a time after its first postmaster, then took back the name Greenville in 1896. Railroad travelers once stopped at the Joseph Kronser Hotel and Saloon, a wooden building from 1897 that also held the ticket office and the first post office. The town became a village in 2021, and today it is home to Appleton International Airport. Families come to Lions Park for summer Family Nights with a movie on the lawn, the Lions Club's catfish races in July, and a Wednesday farmers market at the Village Hall.
