About Howard Lake
Howard Lake sits on the south shore of the lake it is named for. The Dakota lived here first, settlers came in the 1850s, and the town was laid out in 1869 as a stop on the new railroad. Its City Hall from 1904 once held the post office, the library, the fire hall and a public meeting hall all under one roof, and it is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Every July the Wright County Fair fills the county fairgrounds with a midway, livestock shows and grandstand nights.
