About Hutchinson
Hutchinson was started in November 1855 by three brothers from the Hutchinson Family Singers, and a post office opened there the next year. It sits along the South Fork of the Crow River, where a dam at Main Street makes Otter Lake. The town has one of the oldest city park systems in the country, and its biggest employers make things like tape and flags. Today neighbors gather in the parks, at the farmers market at the old depot, and at the summer RiverSong music festival.
