About Isanti

Isanti began in the early 1860s as a crossroads settlement where old trails met, near what is now Highway 65 and 301st. George Nesbitt opened a hotel and store in 1863, and a post office, blacksmith and school followed. In 1899 the Great Northern railroad's new line missed the village, so the town picked up and moved about a mile and a half southwest to where it stands now. The Rum River runs along its west side, and today people come for Legacy Park's wooded trails, downtown street dances and the Jubilee Days parade and fireworks.
