About North Branch

North Branch is named for the north branch of the Sunrise River, which flows through town, and it sits where Interstate 35 meets Highway 95 in Chisago County. It became a township in 1861 and was set up in 1881. In 1994 two neighboring cities, North Branch and Branch, voted to join as one. Today about 10,800 people live here, and the town has more people with Swedish roots than any other city of its size in the country. The chamber's Fall Harvest Festival brings local makers and businesses together each year.
