About Kronenwetter
Kronenwetter began around 1855 as Keelerville, a small sawmill spot where a man named Keeler dug a canal so Bull Jr. Creek could turn his mill. Sebastian Kronenwetter, a lumberman from Germany, bought the mill in 1857, and the town that formed in 1886 took his name. Around 1910 the Worzella brothers started the Polish farm settlement of Peplin, mailing brochures in Polish to big cities to bring families north. Today it is a spread-out, mostly residential village just south of Wausau, the largest village by land area in Wisconsin, with parks like Buska Park, first set up for kids' baseball.
