About Lake Crystal
Lake Crystal began in 1854, when William Robinson and Lucius Hunt came upon three lakes, Loon, Crystal and Lily, and brought their families back to settle. When the railroad picked the spot for a station in 1869, the two men laid out the town, and the railroad's engineer named it after Crystal Lake. The lake has always been the heart of town: in 1893 a boat club built a pavilion on its shore and ran a small steamboat on twenty-minute trips. Robinson's 1870 brick house still stands on Robinson Street. Today people fish from the pier and launch boats at Robinson Park, the biggest park on the lake.
