About North Mankato
North Mankato sits on the north bank of the Minnesota River, across from Mankato. It was founded in 1857 and became a village in 1898, and it grew fast in the 1920s. Brickyards were an important local industry, and the town still has an 1890 Queen Anne brick school. Today neighbors shop at the Monday farmers' market, use the Taylor Library, and gather each July for Fun Days at Wheeler Park.
