About Lindstrom

Lindstrom was settled mostly by Swedish families who came to the Chisago Lakes in the 1850s; Daniel Lindstrom arrived in 1853, and the town was platted in 1880 and incorporated in 1894. The writer Vilhelm Moberg told the story of Swedish emigrants through two made-up settlers, Karl Oskar and Kristina, and the town still celebrates them every July at Karl Oskar Days. It calls itself America's Little Sweden. People come for the giant Swedish coffee pot water tower, Main Street shops, and fika with a Scandinavian donut.
