About Mora
Mora was platted in 1882 and named for Mora in Sweden, the hometown of an early settler, and today it is the county seat of Kanabec County on the Snake River. The first train came in 1882. The Swedish roots show in a giant Dala horse and a Mora clock, and the sister city link with Mora, Sweden dates to 1972. Each February the town hosts Vasaloppet USA, a big cross-country ski race, and in spring paddlers race on the Snake River.
