About Princeton
Princeton grew up where the Rum River and its West Branch meet. Five men platted the town in the winter of 1855, and sawmills soon turned the white pine floated down the river into lumber. Nearby clay beds fed brickyards at Brickton, and the town's farms grew wheat, potatoes and more. Today about 4,800 people live there, and the old Great Northern Depot, built of local brick, is a museum of county history.
