About Spring Park
Spring Park is a small city on the shore of Lake Minnetonka, about 20 miles west of Minneapolis. Its land was once the grounds of the Hotel Del Otero, a summer lake resort built by James J. Hill, and old photos show the big hotel above a long boardwalk and boathouse on Spring Park Bay. A rail line built to bring visitors to the lake ran through town; today it is the Dakota Rail Regional Trail, which crosses the Seton Channel on an old rail bridge. Spring Park became a city in 1951 with just over 200 people, and now neighbors bike the trail, boat on the West Arm and send their kids to Westonka schools.
