About Tomahawk
Tomahawk sits where the Tomahawk and Somo rivers meet the Wisconsin River, a spot early settlers called The Forks. The town traces its start to 1886, when workers camped here to build a big dam and a railroad, and William H. Bradley's land company platted the town site the next year. Sawmills, a paper mill and three railroads soon made it a busy logging town. Today families walk the Riverwalk and the old railroad trestle on the Hiawatha Trail, watch the Kwahamot water ski shows on the river, and turn out for the Fall Ride, the July 3rd craft fair and the downtown Venison Feed.
